The Model-Netics
Instructor Training Program (ITP) held September 10-12, 2001 is one
that will not be forgotten by either the attendees or MEMC staff.
Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with those touched by the
tragedy of September 11th. Heartfelt thanks go out to everyone involved
with the ITP in persevering under such adverse circumstances. God

Part
I Speaker
Stanley Kavan, Senior Vice President of Operations for Zurich
Insurance Services, Inc. spoke on behalf of the Part I group. Stan
explained, "For the management team, one of our most critical
needs was to continue the culture and management practices that
had brought success to the company over the last 25-30 years. As
a senior management group, we decided to use Model-Netics...we wanted
to make sure that everybody had the same message, that we talked
a common language , and are on the same page." Stan noted the
entire employee population at Zurich Insurance Services goes through
Model-Netics, and it is being very well received.
He concluded
his talk by praising the Model-Netics Instructor Training Program.
"I've been through a lot of training over the last 30 years,
and there is nothing that can compare to what I've been through
over the last three days. It's the most professional training I've
ever been involved with."
Part
III Speaker
Mike Henry (2536), Chairman & CEO of Jack Henry &
Associates, Inc., spoke on behalf of Part III.
Mike provided
an interesting analysis of how Jack Henry & Associates, a provider
of integrated computer systems for banks, came to "discover"
Model-Netics. As a company that has been through 15 acquisitions,
grown from a market capitalization of $100 million to over $2 billion,
he explained, "Most companies look at management training to
become successful or to become more successful. We really looked
at it because of our success." He went on to say that "If
we are to continue to be successful, we've got to get all of these
folks (employees) on the same page, give them some training, and
get a common language."
He also
commented on the commitment of top management teaching Model-Netics,
"We took the time, and I took the time. The one thing they
(MEMC)always told me, "If you're going to do it, you
need to do it." Though still early in the process, Mike sees
Model-Netics as "a great success so far. It's great to see
people's eyes light up, they get it, they like it, they want everyone
else to have it. It's been a great experience."
Featured
Speaker
Dan George (2445), President of Manhattan Insurance Group
was the featured speaker at the graduation luncheon.
Dan's comments
addressed Model-Netics on two levels: organizationally and personally.
From an organizational perspective, Dan talked about the ever present
level of change going on around us. He asked the question, "What
sort of management system do you want if this is the case?"
He answered his question by saying, "The answer is obvious.
You want Model-Netics. The other "management related"
programs are mere subsets of what Model-Netics brings to you."
